March 2013. We had 10 open beds for the 2012 growing season and about 25  people on the list. On April 21, 2013 the “rejoining” email went out. I’ll get a head count of returning members and then will send it out to new garners on the “join” list. There is still time to get your name on the list! Even though it was snowing Friday night, I have to beleive the warm weather simply must be around the corner!

I’ve updated the 2013 Root-Riot Madison Street Registration and Waiver form. I’ve also include the 2012 plots layout to help you remember your plot and your neighbors. If you are a returning gardener and want to move plots for any reason, just let me know and we can reshuffle before I send out a note to the new gardeners.

I’ll have some blank waivers in the shed later this evening, you can pick them up there, as well as drop off your check, just like last year.

Couple of things for this year.

• Unless I hear an overwhelming request, I am not ordering compost this year… instead,
• I am looking into putting up a fence. So many folks are getting their veggies taken right before they plan on picking and it is distracting from the joy of having the garden. I have to coordinate it with the land owners so I’ll give you an update as I do so.
• The registration fee for returning members is $50. I’m anticipating that it will be used for the price of the fence.
• YOU MUST HAVE YOUR FEE AND FORMS IN BY MAY 4TH.

Plant pick-up
The Oak Park conservatory is giving plants away again this year. Similar to last year, we have the pick up in the morning after the Sale. If you can look at your schedule and let me know who can help on Saturday May 11th, between 8:15 to 10:30 or so, I’d appreciate it. I have Saturday commitments in the morning through the week of the May 18th, so a leader/organizer to help out would be good.

RETURNING MEMBERS FOR Root-Riot MADISON STREET (1) 4′ x 8′ planting bed. $50 is the suggest fee for the 2013 season. Please add $2.00 when you use on-line payment. $50 + $2 = $52.00 (Children’s beds are $25.00 + 2.00= 27.00)(Only one $2.00 fee for an order! If you add a children’s and adults bed only add one $2.00 fee.)
